As a commissioned law officer and school board member, I am aware of the daily struggles and hardships families encounter here in Southern Missouri. I am dedicated to providing a conservative voice for all members of the 154th district in Jefferson City. I ask for your help to keep conservative values here in our area. I ask for your vote November 6th.
To My Fellow Constituents,
I would like to take this time to provide you an insight into why I am voting for the overturning of vetoed House Bill 253. House Bill 253 is designed to decrease taxes for EVERYONE. This will create jobs and create more revenue for the state. Who knows better how to spend your money than you? In 1962, President John F. Kennedy made a compelling speech about when is the best time to lower income taxes to create job growth. House Bill 253 will do just that. It will make it easier for small businesses to succeed.
As I have encountered those not in favor of this bill, I have encountered the same misunderstanding. The Missouri General Assembly (the Senate and the House) has many responsibilities, but one very important job is to make a budget for the state. In the 2012 budget, education was given an extra $100 million more than the preceding year. In 2013, education was given an additional $200 million more dollars. The General Assembly has made the commitment to education and that will always remain whether Republican or Democrat. As you all know, I was a School Board Member for almost six years in the West Plains School District. I will always support education and those who are involved. I can assure each and every one of you if I thought for a single minute education funding would be cut due to the passage of this bill, I along with the majority of the General Assembly would be voting “no” on this bill. I also feel Governor Jay Nixon has been holding education hostage to try and strong arm legislators into passing bills he is in favor of. While I am not here to place blame, I do feel that is an important piece of information the voters deserve to know. I am not here to bash the man because I have respect for him and his position, but there is not a good reason to withhold close to $500 million from education. I am proud to serve this area, and want this area to thrive in every way. This is the basis for my decision. The link to the JFK video is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEdXrfIMdiU. It is an honor to serve as your state representative thank you for the opportunity.
